Here comes hot chocolate! Real hot chocolate. None of that powdered sugary mix - this is chocolate, and this is cream, and this is all that it is. Okay, there's a little nutmeg in there, but that's all. It's fantastically easy to make. And fantastically easy to drink. Unless you put it in a Klein bottle, I guess, which is entirely your business.

You will need: half-and-half or light whipping cream, some nutmeg, dark chocolate, a saucepan and a wire whisk.

To make: bring some half-and-half (milk is simply not an option here) to a near-boil in a saucepan; as it approaches boiling, turn the heat down and add grated (like on a cheese grater) or finely-chopped dark chocolate. Start stirring, and do not stop until all that chocolate is melted; if it doesn't look like milk chocolate, add more dark chocolate (hell, add more anyway). Sprinkle in a bit of nutmeg (not much), stir again, and serve immediately. Top it off with whipped cream (real stuff is best, by which I mean get some whipping cream and whip it good) and a sprinkle of shaved chocolate and nutmeg.
